In May 2025, Malek Capital completed a multi-year fractional CFO and sell-side support engagement, culminating in a significant liquidity event for a storied automotive family.

The Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors awarded Ken Malek the Emanuel M. Katten Award at this year’s annual conference.  Emanuel “Manny” Katten was a founding member of the AIRA’s predecessor organization and was instrumental in the creation of the CIRA program.  Each year the AIRA presents the Manny Award to an AIRA member that has provided exceptional service to the AIRA and to the profession as a whole.

Ken Malek served on the 2021 AIRA Annual Conference Planning Committee. The Conference was set to take place at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa, in Newport Beach, California, but due to Covid-19 was switched to a virtual format. Ken was one of the founding Directors of the AIRA, is past-President, and has served on its Board since 1985. Ken Malek was recently nominated to be included in the AIRA’s first class of Distinguished Fellows. The AIRA’s Distinguished Fellows program recognizes those individuals that have made significant contributions to the AIRA and the “art and science” of corporate restructuring. Malek and Cavaiani will serve as experts in matters involving efficacy and business plan feasibility for technology products. Malek is a Senior Member of the IEEE who is named inventor on twenty issued US utility patents covering cellular, public safety radio, and cordless technologies. Cavaiani’s prior positions include Director of Product Marketing and Partner Management at BMW Technology Corp and National VP of Marketing and Sales for National Semiconductor.

Ken Malek has been a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy since 1996, inducted as part of the College’s VIIth Class of Fellows. The College is an honorary association of leading restructuring practitioners who have distinguished themselves through case results, scholarship, and contributions to the profession. From 2015 through 2019, Ken served as a member of the College’s Board of Regents, which is responsible for the College’s annual nomination and approval process of admitting new Fellows.

MalekRemian hosted “Space Traveler Blues” at the Union League Club to benefit the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation. Featured speaker Space Shuttle Captain Scott “Scooter” Altman shared with attendees his vast experience encompassing 4 Shuttle Missions – including the fifth and final servicing mission to the Hubble Space Shuttle Telescope – as well as F-14D Strike Leader over Southern Iraq, and Hollywood Movie role in Top Gun, including many of the films aerial stunts and the famous “flipping the bird” inverted flying scene.

Ken Malek moderated a panel discussion, “Even Napoleon Had His Watergate” – Financially Troubled Industry Special Topics, at the Eighth Annual American College of Bankruptcy Seventh Circuit Education Committee Seminar, held at Chicago-Kent College of Law.  The seminar was attended by many members of the Midwest region bankruptcy, turnaround and restructuring communities.

Ken Malek authored an article entitled “Managing Fox in the Henhouse Syndrome,” addressing enterprise risk management.   Published by the Beard Group in editor Jack Butler’s compendium of advice, “Navigating Today’s Environment: The Directors’ and Officers’ Guide to Restructuring,” Ken Malek  provides guidance that could not be more timely than during the Covid-19 crisis.
